Animal Extinction in Malaysia

by: Nia Amira Najwa binti Azmi

Malaysian awareness of endangered wildlife is still low because they do not think as developed countries. However, what is sad is that human greed for exploring and pursuing development has left these animals in grave danger.

Malaysia is rich country in natural resources because there are many different species of flora and fauna that are constantly circulating in their natural habitat.

Many people may not be aware that animals in Malaysia are now in serious danger of extinction. World Bank data shows 70 of the 336 endangered species in Malaysia were recorded in 2014 and made it the seventh highest in the world.

In Southeast Asia, Malaysia ranks second after Indonesia when it has 184 endangered species.

According to Malaysian Animal Association President Arie Dwi Andika, sympathy is not enough if the top leaders do not seriously care about wildlife conservation in the country.

"It is not enough for the people to express sympathy without engaging in the above leadership because we find that if our leaders are serious, sympathetic to the life of this endangered animal, they must be aware of and value the logging, the poaching that we consider to be rampant.”

The Malaya Tiger (Panthera tigris malayensis / Panthera tigris jacksoni) or known as the Belang Tiger refers to a sub-species of tiger that only exists in Peninsular Malaysia. The main areas are Endau-Rompin National Park and yet Temenggor National Park.

Orang Utan is two species of Hominidae that live in Southeast Asia, mainly in Sumatra and Borneo. Orang utan are among the smartest animals in the world, they can use a variety of complex tools and build nests using wood and leaves. They can understand human languages and can use sign language even though they cannot speak.

Tenuk Malaysia (Tapirus indicus), is the world's largest and only species of tenuk is native to Asia. The number of tapirs decreases due to various factors, including the original habitat being destroyed for development purposes, thus disrupting the reproduction process and ultimately contributing to extinction. Only about 350 tapir are still alive today.

I hope that all parties, especially the government and the public, can improve cooperation to reduce the risk of wildlife eradication in Malaysia so that it can be enjoyed by future generations.

WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN

By : Husna Hysham

So, what is UV light anyway?

Ultraviolet(UV) light, what is it? First and foremost, it is a type of electromagnetic radiation with enough energy to break chemical bonds of all kinds, including living tissue. Most of the ultraviolet light falls into wavelengths between visible light and X-ray, and it reaches the earth in wavelengths between 400 nanometers to about 180 nanometers. UVA, or near UV, has a wavelength of 315 - 400 nm, and UVB, or middle UV, has a wavelength between 280 - 315 nm. There is even a third UV band called UVC, or far UV, which is between 180 - 280 nm. UVB penetrates the top layer of the skin (the epidermis), and a suntan is a reaction to exposure to harmful UVB rays. UVA penetrates deeper and can injure living tissue, such as collagen and elastin. I think of it this way – UVA, A for aging, UVB, B for burning.

Is there such a thing as a healthy tan?

“But I always feel healthier when I have a tan!” That’s probably because your body manufactured a good dose of Vitamin D along the way. Vitamin D is made from cholesterol when your skin is exposed to sunlight. Sun exposure is the best way to get Vitamin D because it is difficult to get Vitamin D in substantial amounts in food. But a tan is a sign of injury afterthe damage has been done. A suntan results from the body's natural defense mechanism kicking in. Melanin, a pigment produced by cells in the skin, absorbs UV light and dissipates it as heat. When the body senses sun damage, it sends melanin into the surrounding cells to help protect them from sustaining more damage, and this pigment causes the skin to darken and appear as a tan.

Clearly, we all know when we’ve had “too much sun,” but the insidious part of this is that radiation is bioaccumulative. With repeat exposure, we increase the damaging effect to our skin. For those of us who drive, have you ever noticed that you have more damage on your left side than your right? We’re exposed to UV light from many sources, including our TVs and phones! And I won’t even go into the dangers of tanning booths.

How do I get vitamin D without sun damage?

So, what are the best ways to get Vitamin D and protect this fragile covering that is our face to the world?

Well, obviously staying out of the sun helps, although UV rays penetrate glass and reflect off of surfaces, so it’s impossible to avoid altogether. Wearing hats does help, as does sun-protective clothing when we’re outdoors. In the end, though, it’s sunscreens that are the best sunprotection for our faces and hands that are always exposed to UV light.

YouTube Star Anncy twinkle Talks About Growing Her Channel

 by: Hanis Sophia

Social capital has become a major thought for numerous individuals, indeed for those of us who don’t have plans to become internet sensations.

Even when our social media supporters comprise totally of companions and family, it feels great to share extraordinary minutes and some of the time even the more unremarkable angles of daily life.

But beginning an online brand and making it your calling could be a different story totally. In the event that you’ve ever tried to induce a YouTube channel going, at that point you as of now know precisely how troublesome it can be.

There could be a gigantic sum of competition on social media stages like YouTube and Instagram, so it’s even more noteworthy when a really unique and interesting substance maker rises over the shred and finds victory.

Anncy Twinkle created her own YouTube channel that has since gotten to be fiercely well known, which popularity expands to her Instagram page as well.

Twinkle covers cosmetics, skincare, and beauty tips, as well as making vlog-style posts approximately more personal themes.

With about 700,000 supporters on YouTube and around 60,000,000 add up to sees, it’s difficult for a watcher to assume Twinkle as being anything other than amazingly successful.

In an interview with AV Artvoice, Anncy Twinkle shares about her channels and what she feels regarding her fame.

What has it been like to create a community of followers and fans? Did you expect your channel would take off so quickly?

It’s unquestionably exceptionally challenging to construct a community beginning from zero endorsers. It felt like until the end of time and I’m still getting started.

I thought it would take me approximately a decade to hit 100,000 supporters. The secret to building a community on social media implies being genuine continuously and creating the leading content you can consistently. It’s the best feeling to have a group of individuals who really cherish and watch you for who you are.

Sometimes I truly think around how this is my life right now. I can be crying, ranting, and talking about my broken toe and fans comment “We’re here for you.” Crazy, right? Everybody talks to me like I’m their best friend and I would never need to alter that. I truly think that I have the most excellent audience, and some of the time my comment segment is way more engaging than my own content.

People continuously message me and tell me that  my content helped them go through a bad day. Little did they know that their comments make my whole week.  However, it definitely gets harder to please half a million people every day. With each video you make, you set the bar higher. My channel blew up right after I wrapped up university. I remember thinking, “Wow, 70,000 endorsers? There’s no way I can depend on that, I need to find a 9-to-5 job.”

Just as I was considering that, my Worst Reviewed video blew up. In a matter of three to four days, my views went from six to 7,000,000. I did not anticipate any of this to happen overnight. I still keep in mind looking at my notifications that day, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

As someone who reports on the beauty sector, do you feel there are certain expectations for your content and the way you present yourself? Have these expectations ever been constricting?

I adore making different makeup looks so I don’t think I’m ever aiming to completely stop doing tutorials on my channel. However, I need to say that the makeup industry on YouTube can be depleting and debilitating since it can get muddled very quickly.

It’s truly peculiar to me how people now and then ask influencers to be true, more genuine, less filtered but at the same time once you appear your genuine self, people want to alter you. I have friends who do anything they want, they get fillers and Botox and live their best life, and they get inconsiderate and cruel comments every single day.

On the other hand, I’m scared of needles and blood. I watch this huge YouTuber the other day conversing about having tiny lips and how people inquire her to induce filters because her lips were non-existent. There’s no way you can win! Within the beauty industry, everybody is really serious, you wish to have the culminate lined lips, perfect eyeliner, perfect blush, perfect blended contour and you would like to see your best each single day, which is something I can never live up to.

That’s why I choose to stay away from only doing makeup tutorials. I like to add a little bit of a Q and A and story time to make it more light and lively. People always look up to influencers to address things that happen worldwide which is completely insane to me. People expect more from influencers than their political leaders. We can not be the voice for every single movement, it’s pretty irresponsible to expect that.

Have you enjoyed your experiences working directly with brands?

I absolutely love working with brands. A lot of times I get messages from fans who own small businesses and ask for a little shout out, and I love helping them out when I can!

The very first brand that reached out to me was WUNDER2BROW, they were the first brand to send me a free PR card when I had little to no subscribers. I think I had almost 4,000 followers on Instagram and it was a big deal to me back then. I was just starting off my channel and felt like it wasn’t going anywhere. When I was just about to give up, I received an email from them and still remember that moment to this day. I screamed so loud in my house and was super happy about it, I couldn’t sleep!

Has your approach to making videos changed at all since you first started?

Oh wow, definitely. If you watch my older videos, you can see how nervous I was and how I wasn’t used to talking in front of the camera. I was even shy to share my videos online and promote them. So, I would just post them on my story saying “Hey guys if you want you can watch it,” and that’s how I used to promote my videos.

I wasn’t confident enough and I don’t really think that was the real Anncy. Sometimes I would say inappropriate things and was very sarcastic in my videos. I would edit those parts out because I felt like I needed to follow this perfect YouTube personality and be nice, be cool, be a lady, not cussing, and follow this cookie-cutter personality.

I pretended to be somebody that I wasn’t and it got really exhausting. Some days I’d slip up and my real personality would sneak through. So I stopped pretending and the real Anncy came through after a little over 100,000 subscribers. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the fake Anncy.

How did you first get the idea for the Worst Reviewed/Best Reviewed series?

I remember my friend and I were watching YouTube videos and in my recommended box I saw this girl who made a video all about the worst salon she visited and how it was the worst experience of her life.

It was really funny to watch and it was a very interesting concept. She went by herself and she got this whole makeover done. I remember looking at my friend and I told her I wanted to do this but that I wasn’t confident enough to do it by myself. She said she would come along, and I was super excited to film it.

But after a few days, she told me she was super busy, so luckily I had another friend who wanted to hang out that day so I decided to pick her up instead and then we headed to the salon. The rest is history.

What is your favorite aspect of being a content creator?

My favorite part about being a content creator is the fact that I can share everything and anything I want, including the ups and the downs. I love talking to an audience and seeing this more as a hobby than a job so it’s the best feeling to generate income from something you actually enjoy. It’s never ” Ugh I have to film a YouTube video now.” It’s more like, “oh my god I literally cannot wait to film this and edit it once I’m back home!” I would not change it for the world. I’m also extremely thankful for my super amazing audience! They make me crack up feel so supported.

Has your channel given you the opportunity to meet or talk to other creators and YouTubers?

Fun story time: I used to watch this YouTuber named Lailli Mirza and her sister Alizey, the only funny and interesting YouTubers back in the day who were from Dubai that I could relate to. They drove past the same street that I drove through and went to the same mall that I went to.

They also have the same opinions as me about everything! I absolutely loved her channel and watched it religiously every single day. I remember she was vlogging open in public and I thought to myself, “How is she that confident?”

That same day I looked at my friend and told her, if she can vlog in public, I can too! So the next day, I purchased a camera. Two years later, I’m actually close friends with her and we meet every other day to film content and help each other grow. This is still so unreal. I have so many other internet friends and this really has made it the best job in the world.

Soulmates are Real

 Written by Nanthini Suresh

Did you know that there are actually people out there who would have you believe that some of us don’t have a soulmate? How outrageous is it to think that someone may not know such a beautiful experience? But it’s true, there are some schools of thought that outright deny the existence of soulmates, or claim that not everyone has one.

Let’s put those rumors to rest already. As an experienced love psychic, I can tell you with certainty, that everyone has at least one; you have to have at least one. If you were as lucky as my grandparents, you’ll connect at 14 years of age and never look back, have 7 children, 24 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren to enjoy.

On the other hand, you might be more like me - a Gen X’er - or millennial - growing up in a completely different era. You might be someone who has had more than one real relationship, experiencing love to the fullest, and coming to realize that soulmates are real, but not always meant to be permanent; Especially in this new age, where everything is constantly changing. I would have loved to have met my one and only early, settle down and start my life. But each time I thought I did, I was wrong. I desperately wanted to live a life like my grandparents - start young, have an army of children and grow old together, arguing about how firm the pasta should be.

Despite this desire, my experience took me to many places and people, each time knowing for a fact that the person I was with was my soulmate. I gave each relationship my all, doing everything and loving without reservation - nothing was too much or too hard. With each one, I intended on advancing the union to the very end. With some of them, I experienced love so thoroughly that I thought for sure this had to be it. But even when the last one didn’t work out, when it became impossible and I came to the conclusion that this person didn’t love me the way I need and couldn’t truly understand, appreciate, or respect me - I still never gave up on the idea, the notion, or the belief of a soulmate.

Nor should you! The last go round, or 2 or 3, may not have been so great. So what? Move forward - what is up ahead for you? What did you learn from the previous encounter? And what can you take with you to the next one? Every soulmate is meant to impart some individual lessons and experiences to help you grow, and vice versa - it’s not one-sided. We gather together, as bees do, to meet, greet, and do a dance with one another. Lessons are learned, imparted and shared. When the time comes that one, or both, of you are supremely unable to continue - you move on. Imagine if you were STUCK with that person for the rest of your life because it’s your soulmate, having to work it out, no excuses blah blah and more blah. We’ve all seen what that turns into; In sticking it out with the wrong person, you inhibit their growth as well as your own. Neither of you get anywhere by holding on past the expiry date of your relationship.

So then the question becomes not, do you have a soulmate. But how to identify them.

The truth is, you will go through soulmates, one after the other, until you and your ultimate, twin flame soulmate are prepared to meet. For some it happens quickly and for others the process seems endless; but what happens when you meet your soulmate is that there is no longer any confusion. You come to realize that before that moment, life was missing something and the reality you were living was only a tenth of what it is now, and as much as you may have loved before, you never really knew what love is until NOW. You fully understand that every experience, every lesson, every moment, every relationship has brought you to this place of peace, love, and fulfillment.

So to those who don’t believe or are still wondering if soulmates are real - I say, do what works for you and the truth will be revealed in time. But to those who have hope, who never gave up and who are still searching, to you I say, keep going. Don’t ever give up on the promise. It’s not about the destination, it’s about every single moment that leads you toward true love. In time, when it’s perfect, when your stars have aligned in just the right way, you’ll know love again. Love on an even grander scale than ever before. If you have found a soulmate, work at it, learn and grow together, as one. If you haven’t yet and are still looking, never give up on the idea, and always hold onto that hope. The stars will eventually align again, and whether your next love relationship is your soulmate or twin flame, it only gets better from here.

I share this with you from my personal understanding and the experience of helping people with their love relationships every day. Using my psychic gifts and abilities, I can see from an elevated place the bigger picture behind your love relationships and the lessons they provide. With psychic insights I can help you move more quickly through the process of finding your true, twin flame soulmate - or recognizing them if you already found them. So you can finally experience the love and joy you deserve

BENEFITS & RISK OF NEEM

Why you must have Neem leaves in this month | The Times of India

By : Husna Hysham

Neem comes with a whole lot of benefits. Neems are known for their anti bacterial properties which are why they work wonders in treating any kind of infection or diseases. Neem is used to treat leprosy, eye disorder, intestinal problems, diabetes, heart and blood vessels, chickenpox, skin problems, burns, infection, birth control and many more.

Mostly used parts to make medicines are the barks, leaves and seeds. Sometimes, the roots and flowers are used. Neem flowers (also known as Vepampoo in Tamil) can be used dried, fresh or in powdered form. They are used as garnish over food items. Neem flowers have the tendency to treat anoerexia, nausea and intestinal problems. According to Ayurveda, Neem flowers have calming effects which is why they are used for aromatherapy. The barks and twigs of the Neem are used in a very interesting way. If you are brought up in an Indian family, you would know about ‘Neem Toothbrush’. In India, people would chew on twigs of Neem or use them to make a toothbrush. By doing so, it helps free your mouth from bacteria, treats swollen gums and give you whiter teeth. Neem is also used in cosmetic product. One example is the Neem oil. Neem oil is made from Neem seeds. It is rich in medicinal properties. Neem is also used in soaps, creams and various cosmetic products. Neem has been used from a very long time before modern medicines were even introduced and up to today, people still rely on this plant for medicine. The taste of Neem is extremely bitter but it is very good for one’s health.

Here are some ways you can use Neem leaves.

  1. You can make a paste using just Neem leaves and turmeric to heal any wounds or cuts or insect bites on your body. In a few days times you will be able to see differences.

  2. You can use Neem for your hair. Boil some Neem leaves till the water turn green and allow it to fully cool down. After washing your hair with any shampoo, use this water to just rinse your hair. It helps remove dandruff.

  3. Neem also helps with sore eye. Boil some Neem leaves and let the water cool. Use a cloth to dab your eye with the water. It helps remove itchiness, redness and tiredness.

  4. Neem helps in treating acne. Grind a few Neem leaves and make it into a paste. You can add a little bit of turmeric if you want. Then apply it daily on the affected area till the acne dries out. Neem helps remove impurities and bacteria on the skin.

  5. Neem helps to boost your immune system. Take a few Neem leaves and crush them. Consume them with a glass of water. You can do this every day.

As much as there are many benefits of the Neem, there is also some risk to it. Not everyone can use Neem leaves. Some people have allergies when it comes to directly usage of plants. If you are using Neem for the first time, you might consider doing a patch test first before further using the product. Take a small amount and test it on your skin. Wait for 24 hours or so to see if you show any symptoms or allergies. If there is any irritation or itchiness, do discontinue and refer to your doctor for further treatment. Neem products are also not recommended for pregnant women or infants as it can cause miscarriage or side effects. Before using products with Neem, do check with your doctor if you are allowed to use them. Like I mentioned earlier, Neem is also used in birth control.

Global‌ ‌Warming‌ ‌is‌ ‌Getting‌ ‌Worse‌ ‌

by: Nia Amira Najwa binti Azmi

Global warming is an environmental condition that is experiencing high temperatures compared to normal temperatures. This causes us to feel hot even at night. The unpredictable weather conditions that saw unprecedented floods and severe drought problems are among the effects of global warming that has led to changes or disruptions to climate, habitat and ecosystems.

Global warming is a phenomenon of gas capture known as greenhouse gases involving gases (carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), chlorophyllocarbon (CFC), methane, nitrogen oxide) that prevents and captures the heat of the earth from being released into space.

This is due to human activities such as deforestation, industrial activities, open burning, smoke emission, forest exploration for development activities and more.

According to University of Malaysia (UKM) Professor of Climatology and Oceanography, Prof Dr Fredolin Tangang, the 2016 warming trend was declared as the third consecutive year in which temperatures have steadily increased since 2001 with 16 of the hottest 17 years during that period.

"Increasing CO2 concentration will capture heat in the Earth's climate system and over the last three decades the IPCC report also found that the earth's climate system is in equilibrium, receiving more heat from the sun than heat exiting the system.

"I expect this trend of rising temperatures to occur next year as the greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere increases as reported in the IPCC report,"

Haze occurs because there is a lot of dust, smoke, dust and other pollutants floating in the air as a result of human and natural activities. This haze phenomenon can reduce vision distances.

The greenhouse effect is a phenomenon of global warming due to the large amount of heat trapped within the atmosphere and prevents the return of heat from the earth to the atmosphere. Heat is reflected back to the earth, the atmosphere saves more heat and the earth gets warmer.

The above factors may have led to an increase in temperature to the earth. Take a look at the graph below that shows that the earth's temperature is rising rapidly over the years.

The effects and effects of global warming have also indirectly disrupted our country's climate and climate systems. Equatorial climates in the heat and humidity throughout the year have not reached normal levels due to the rise in temperatures.

Street Photography Tips

 By: Megat Harris Iskandar

DON’T BE A PERFECTIONIST
Perfection is not required in street photography. I know getting a sharp images pleases everyone. However, we can’t always get a perfectly focused images as it does not turned out as what we want. Thus, sharpness is not everything, so break the rules! Get familiar and comfortable in knowing your gear. In case you missed the focus on your initial subject or mistakenly focuses on something else, you can always fix the image in post-editing by cropping and recompose it properly. It is a mistake, but it is a mistake that can be fix and turn into something else. Easy, don’t sweat yourself so much on becoming a perfectionist.

SHOOT IN ALL WEATHER

Of course it’s always nice to shoot on a sunny and warm weather because of the strong lights and hard shadows that complement your great photos. But that is so repetitive and it will get boring after a while when you only get the same type of shots. To get a completely different kind of shots you need to go shoot in all weather – raining, cold, fog, intense summer or even snow– which will help you rediscover a new or different way of shooting the same place that you have shot all the time. All those natural changes in weather gives you diversity that will avoid you from getting bored of shooting the same thing over and over again.

SEE DON’T CAPTURE!

In street photography, it is all about the expression of the world. It is how we see the world, how we perceive it, and how we express it to other people. Try to spend more time on observing the surroundings – scene of the daily life or works. Try to find what is interesting to your eyes and what stories do you want to share to your viewer. Before you start capturing you need to be able to have that vision. Whether you’re practicing with a camera or without a camera, you can always practice to visualise what surrounds you, what feels very interesting, what could make a very compelling stories for your eyes that you want to share to the rest of the world. Practice on observing and seeing before you ever get to click that shutter button!

PRIME LENSES > ZOOM LENSES
Shooting with prime lenses just give you a better experience and get you to think differently about most of your shots due to the fixed focal length. It forces you to focus more on the composition which means you are going to move around more often to get the subject into the proper composition. Despite of the tiredness, this can be advantageous for you because you might get a unique story as you move around and have more interactions with your subject. The most important thing about prime lenses is that it gives you a wider aperture at a cheaper price and also let you shoot more discretely. We can all agree that being discrete or stealth when you are out on the street is a great advantage when we are trying to get a shots of – people, emotions, scene – because you don’t want to scare everyone with a giant zoom lenses and ended up not getting the shot or worsts, getting told off. Its efficient, budget wise, and dope shots!

FORGET ABOUT SETTINGS!

First thing that you need to keep in mind while doing street photography is to focus more on what you are trying to capture and the story that you are trying to portray. Don’t spend too much time thinking about the settings of your camera or how you are going to capture them. Why? This is simply because while you are busy dialling all the perfect settings you might missed the perfect shot and action that you have had in your mind. Especially when it involves a moving subject – cars, bicycle, pedestrians, trams – you would have missed the shot hundred percent of the time if had to change your manual settings or tweak everything in your camera. This is when Aperture Priority Mode plays it roles. This mode basically let you set your aperture to control the depth of field so you can nail the focus and blur of the subject in the image. Super easy mode when you get the hang of it.
