The government announced the implementation of the Tightened Movement Control Order (PKPD) for one area each in Perak, Melaka, and Sabah starting this Friday.
Senior Minister (Security), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the PKPD was implemented in Kampung Lubok Katak in Batang Padang, Perak; Kampung Permatang Tulang Mukim Sebatau in Jasin, Melaka and Sekolah Menengah Ugama (SMU) Pantai Manis in Papar, Sabah.

He said, PKPD for 14 days until May 20 will be implemented following the Ministry of Health (MOH) detected an increase in COVID-19 cases in the three areas.

"In Kampung Lubok Katak, Tapah, Batang Padang, Perak, the MOH recorded 22 positive COVID-19 cases from 45 screening tests on the population and there was a sharp increase in cases within a week with a high infectious rate.

"After making a risk assessment with various agencies in the PKP Technical Committee and on the advice of the MOH, the government agreed to implement the PKPD in Kampung Lubok Katak effective May 7 to May 20.

"The implementation of this PKPD is to facilitate the MOH to make early detection of cases and prevent the spread of COVID-19 cases from risk areas to other areas outside the locality," he said in a statement today.

Regarding PKPD in Kampung Permatang Tulang, Mukim Sebatu, Jasin, Melaka, Ismail Sabri said that 83 of the 458 individuals screened tested positive for COVID-19, while another 195 individuals were still waiting for the results.

He said, following the high infectious rate and risk assessment as well as MOH advice, the government agreed to implement PKPD in the village to facilitate early detection of cases and prevent the spread of infection to other areas.

Regarding PKPD in Kampung Permatang Tulang, Mukim Sebatu, Ismail Sabri said that 83 of the 458 individuals screened tested positive for COVID-19, while another 195 individuals were still waiting for the results.

He said, following the high infectious rate and risk assessment as well as MOH advice, the government agreed to implement PKPD in the village to facilitate early detection of cases and prevent the spread of infection to other areas.

Apart from that, he said, PKPD at SMU Pantai Manis, Papar, Sabah was implemented after 16 individuals tested positive from 441 screening tests.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also announced PKPD in three areas in Sarawak, namely the Giman Longhouse in Sarikei; Kampung Rayang in Serian and five Jalan Bukut Longhouses in Mukah, were extended for another 14 days.

He said the PKPD in the three areas should have been scheduled to end tomorrow, but each was extended until May 20.

“The PKPD of Rumah Panjang Giman was extended after two of the 55 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 and there is still a continuing outbreak among the occupants as well as 53 screening test samples are still awaiting results.

"The extension of PKPD in Kampung Rayang after 64 positive cases were detected and the MOH reported that there was still a continuous contagion among the residents and the remaining 312 screening samples still had no results.

"The situation is similar in five Jalan Bukut longhouses when the MOH reported that there were still positive cases detected in the five longhouses when 119 positive cases were recorded from the last 306 screening samples," he said.

Ismail Sabri also announced that four PKPDs will be terminated at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Johor Bahru, Johor; Maahad Tahfiz al-Quran al-Asriah in Pasir Mas, Kelantan; Machang Science Secondary School, Kelantan and Kampung Sileng Dayak in Lundu, Sarawak.
